SWE-BWSI CubeSat Challenge - 5/29/2022
After months of hard work, 9 teams of mostly female-identifying high school students presented their projects to a panel of technical judges in a livestream broadcast! Congratulations to the Carmel SWENext team from Indiana for winning the top prize, and to all teams for making it through the challenge. And thanks to all the SWE Boston members that supported this challenge as Technical Mentors! Watch the recorded livestream here (including an overview of SWE presented by our own VP of Outreach Ellie Marois): https://web.mit.edu/webcast/beaverworks/s22/swe/.
Participate in the first ever MIT BWSI + SWE Cube Satellite Challenge!
Join 5 other SWE sections from across the US, along with the MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI), for our first ever collaboration! Sign up to be a mentor, or help us plan the challenge and recruit high school teams to participate. Mentor time commitment is 2-3 hours per week from November 2021 through February 2022. Each mentor will receive their own hardware kit to build a satellite (identical to what teams will receive) as well as access to the fully documented course, and will help their team build and troubleshoot either virtually or in-person if feasible. Experience in the following is recommended but not required: Python, image processing, Linux, and systems engineering.
