2011-2012 Organizational Structure
SWE-Boston’s structure consists of an Executive Committee and many Committees, which work together to plan the many programs we offer throughout the year and to tend to general SWE-Boston business.

| PRESIDENT: Sarah R. Chmielewski | The President has the responsibilities of general supervision, direction, and control of the business affairs of the Section, and takes an active role in SWE-Boston committees, programs, and activities. She organizes bimonthly EC meetings and presides over all EC and general membership meetings. |
| FIRST VICE PRESIDENT, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Karen Warren | The First Vice President, as head of the Professional Development Committee, organizes the monthly meetings and other professional development programs for the Section. |
| SECOND VICE PRESIDENT, OUTREACH: Lisa Zagura | The Second Vice President, as head of the K-12 Outreach Committee, oversees programs that inform women, their families, guidance counselors, and the public in general, of the qualifications and achievements of women engineers and the opportunities open to them. These programs include mentoring, science fairs, merit certificates, Girl Scouts, and the Speaker’s Bureau. |
| TREASURER: Elizabeth Young Tybinkowski | The Treasurer keeps a full and complete record of the Section's financial accounts, manages all funds of the Section, and prepares the annual financial report as required by the Society. |
| CORRESPONDING SECRETARY: Trish Adamo Clemmer | The Corresponding Secretary conducts Section correspondence with the general membership and the public. |
| RECORDING SECRETARY: Phyllis Doig | The Recording Secretary records, prepares, maintains, and distributes the record of the proceedings of the membership and EC meetings. |
| SECTION REPRESENTATIVES:
Lori Amara Cherie Cain Erika Gorman Kerry Mahoney | SWE-Boston’s Section Representatives represent the Section at all Council of Representatives and Regional Council meetings and votes for the Section on all Regional and Society ballots. They are the liaison between the Section membership, the Region, and the national organization. |

| ACTEVA COORDINATOR: Kerry Mahoney | The Reservation/Acteva Coordinator publishes the RSVP page for all SWE Boston main events. |
| ARCHIVIST: Beth Silverman | The Archivist collect SWE Boston materials and submit to the Harvard archives for preservation. |
| AWARDS COORDINATOR: Denise Griffin | The Awards chair disseminates information on the national SWE awards to the SWE-Boston membership and encouraging participation in this recognition program. |
| BOUTIQUE COORDINATOR: Allison Cyganowski | The SWE Boutique Coordinator coordinates SWE-Boston's fundraising efforts, which include fundraising with area corporations, selling SWE logo items, and planning fundraising events. |
| COLLEGIATE SECTION LIAISON Jennifer Kennedy | This position coordinates communication between Boston-area student sections and SWE-Boston. The liaison ensures that all area schools are aware of SWE-Boston’s activities, promotes networking amongst the area’s student sections, and assists with SWE questions that may arise. |
| CORPORATE RELATIONS COORDINATOR: Larisa Schelkin | Initial point of contact for business and industry for SWE Boston. |
| DATABASE COORDINATOR: Deirdre Zammit | The Database Coordinator maintains the list of current section contact information. |
| EWEEK LIASON: Denise Griffin | The E-Week Liaison attends Boston-area Engineer Week Committee (EWC) meetings and helps to plan the E-Week Celebration in March as a SWE-Boston representative. Typically these events include a career fair, luncheon, speakers, and exhibits. |
| GIRL SCOUT LIAISON: Lizz Judge | Chair duties include working with one of the local girl scout councils to plan a workshop for Girl Scouts to earn a Science related badge. The chair also recruits workshop chairs and event volunteers. |
| HIGH SCHOOL MERIT CERTIFICATE COORDINATORS: Darcie Giard | SWE-Boston presents Merit Certificates to high school girls who have excelled in math and science. These awards are coordinated with area high schools. |
| JOB BANK COORDINATOR: Lori Amara | Chair duties include coordinating SWE-Boston’s job bank: a collection of open postings from area companies. The Job Bank Chair compiles these postings and sends them out electronically to members who are looking for jobs. |
| MEMBERSHIP CHAIR: Katherine Culbert | The Membership committee handles all tasks and sponsors programs associated with the goals of member recruitment, retention, and services. These activities include membership administration, and preparing packets for new and potential members. |
| YOUNG PROFESSIONALS CHAIR: Yun Cheng | The Young Professionals committee handles all tasks and sponsors programs associated with the goals of welcoming young professionals to the Boston section and ensuring that the transition from collegiate to professional is smooth. |
| NEWSLETTER EDITOR: Lori Amara | The newsletter editor compiles all articles and advertisements, then coordinates the printing with Copy Cop and the mailing house. |
| NOMINATING COMMITTEE: Susan Schueller Diane Trovato Judith Jamieson | The Nominating Committee members select the best qualified candidates for each of the SWE-Boston Executive Committee offices and prepares the ballot for the yearly election. |
| PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CO-CHAIR: Artemis Agelaridou Twohig Wanling Yih | The PD Co-chairs directly coordinates and organize monthly PD meetings with the First VP. |
| PUBLICITY CHAIR: Cynthia Weiler | The Public Representative coordinates SWE announcenments to local newspapers, other engineering organizations, career fairs, and expos. |
| REGIONAL NETWORKING COORDINATOR: Phyllis Doig | The Regional Networking Events coordinator focuses on organizing collective gatherings situated at the varying regions within the Boston area and those that focus on topics that help SWE members draw from the experiences of other members. |
| SCHOLARSHIP COORDINATOR: Chris Aharonian | The Scholarship Chair coordinates SWE-Boston's yearly scholarship program. AIWA Scholarship In memory of longtime SWE-Boston member and volunteer, Lucy Aharonian, SWE-Boston will be working with the Armenian International Women's Association (AIWA) to administer scholarships for women entering |
| SCIENCE FAIR COORDINATOR: Kim Dennis | The Chair organizes SWE-Boston volunteers to judge the Fairs and present an award to each Fair. |
| SPEAKER'S BUREAU COORDINATOR: Artemis Agelaridou Twohig | Chair duties include communicating with area schools and community programs on speaking and workshop requests and enlisting volunteers to participate as speakers and workshop leaders. |
| WEBMASTER: Julie Tittler | The webmaster updates the site to include the latest information about upcoming SWE-Boston events. The website is also updated periodically to ensure the site serves the SWE-Boston membership as a resource for women in engineering. |
| WOW! THAT'S ENGINEERING! CHAIR: Damaris Sarria | Wow! That's Engineering? is a single day SWE event to be held on a weekend afternoon in the fall. The idea is to use projects, demonstrations, panel discussions, and whatever else you can envision to show girls that engineering can be Wow! |
