MassBay Community College in Wellesley Hills, MA, is looking for engineering professionals to act as mentors in the MassBay STEM Mentor Program for 2018-2019.
Seeking
Mentors: STEM Professionals
Mentees: MassBay Students majoring in a STEM field (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics)
Cost: FREE
The STEM Mentor Program, now entering its 5th year of operation, matches MassBay STEM students at the college with professionals in the field in one-on-one mentoring relationships. The program also provides substantive, skills-based, and networking programs throughout the year. Employer partnerships currently include Sanofi Genzyme, US Army Corps of Engineers, MathWorks and the US Food & Drug Administration (Winchester Engineering Analytical Center).
This past year they had roughly 70 mentees and mentors participating in the program; each year the program has grown and they anticipate the need for more engineering professionals to match with students pursuing engineering degrees. One of their primary objectives is to support STEM students who are currently underrepresented in STEM fields, such as women – and they seek to recruit female mentors to provide positive, relatable role models for their students. MassBay and SWE seek professionals who want to give back to the community and make a difference in an emerging engineer’s life and career.
