Evelyn Mary Elizabeth Murray, 1937-
The Life and History of Evelyn Murray
In 1937, Murray was born in Kenya, as the daughter of John Walter Murray - a radio engineer. Murray and her parents moved to the UK a few years later. In 1957, Murray started a special traineeship at Marconi Chelmsford, where she was offered a more permanent position. In college Murray studied Physics and math at the University of Southhampton, England (1960-1963). Murray them moved to Massachusetts as a physicist before pursuing higher education at Tufts and MIT. In 1971 Murray joined SWE, and became a Fellow Life Member soon after.
