Joint Professional & Collegiate Networking Night

The SWE- Boston Professional Section & SWE – Boston University Collegiate Section present: Professionals and collegiates are welcome to join us for our annual student networking night! Every November, members of local collegiate SWE sections gather with SWE-Boston professionals for dinner, networking, and a keynote speaker. Local students are especially encouraged to attend this event for an opportunity to meet with professional SWE members and other students! Our keynote speaker will feature the District Governor of Toastmasters, Sherri Raftery, who discuss some tricks of the trade with mastering public speaking to help you become a more effective presenter both in the work place and in the classroom. About our Speaker: Sherri Raftery
Sherri earned a Bachelor's Degree in Performing Arts and Communications from Emerson College (class 1990) and a Master's Degree in Education with a Concentration in Arts and Learning from Endicott College (Class of 2004). Sherri's poetry submissions have been published and she performs locally with the Theatre Co. of Saugus. Sherri is a Distinguished Toastmasters and is currently serving as the 2009-2010 District 31 Governor which includes Rhode Island & Eastern Massachusetts serving 3500 members and 160 clubs/chapters. Sherri was awarded the 2006-2007 Area Governor of the Year, 2007-2008 Excellence in Marketing, 2008-2009 Excellence in Education and was honored by the The Home for Little Wanderers in 2008 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.
Directions:
The Boston University Photonics Center is located at 8 St. Mary Street in the heart of BU's Charles River Campus. Guests are encouraged to take the MBTA's Green Line, the Boston University Central stop on the B Line is at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and St. Mary Street. Cross Comm. Ave and proceed up St. Mary Street, the Photonics Center is the last building on your left before you cross the bridge over the Mass Pike. Upon entering the building, proceed down the right corridor to the elevator bank (if you hit the atrium, you missed the elevators). The Colloquium Room is on the 9th floor. Guests who come by car may find street parking or can park one block away in the Warren Towers garage (the address is 700 Commonwealth Avenue but the entrance is on Hinsdale Street). Parking is $2/hour or $12 maximum for the evening.
